I would like to confirm that when depreciation is run for a particular period , its coded to a expense account
or to a cost center

Depreciation is always coded to an expense account. However if you have a cost center segment in your COA then you can code it to a cost center as well at the same time.

For example

01-5500-100

Where 01 is the company, 5500 is the depreciation expense, and 100 is the cost center.
