Oracle Applications Navigator failing to load 15 Years, 5 Months ago
|
|

I am fed up with this! I am having problems loading my Oracle Applications in good time most of the time due to step 5 below failing when I start doing the following:
1) HOE General Ledger Super (responsibility)
2) Journal > Enter
3) Run Java (on Java Security Warning screen)
4) Oracle Developer Forms Runtime – Web (launched)
5) Oracle Applications Navigator (the page starts displaying and then suddenly closes within seconds).
I have to start again and again from step 2 downwards. This sometimes takes me two hours or so before the Enter Journals and Find Journals screens open and stabilise.
Is it because an update of Java has been installed on my system since I have installed and started using Oracle Applications?
Do I have to uninstall any new version of Java which the system has prompted me to install as an update?
Please, could you let me know what is causing this problem and how to troubleshoot the problem?
Thank you.

Off hand I dont know what is causing this.
I am sure you have already done this basic check.
1) Pop up blocker must be disabled in IE settings.
2) Try both browsers IE and Firefox and narrow down browser related issues.
3) Add your Oracle Apps url in the trusted sites
4) XXS filter is disabled in IE.
I would not rule out Java related issues. Why dont you try uninstalling all Java on your PC and reinstall only the recommended version.
See what metalink has to say on this.
Please do post the solution, when the problem is resolved.

I have been using Fire Fox all this time. IE is a nightmare! Oracle Apps url is added in the trusted sites.
I am pretty sure the problem is Java related issues. You might be right, I will uninstalling all Java on my system and reinstall only the recommended version.
Then, I would let the forum know the solution, once the problem is resolved.
Cheers!

I had various versions of Java 6 Updates installed on my system, including Java 6 (TM) Update 7 and Java 6 (TM) Update 21.
I have uninstalled all the Java programs from my system.
Now, everything is working perfectly, as from step 1 to step 5 far above.
------------------------ -
To avoid the same problem occurring in the future, do not accept to any system prompt to install other Java (TM) Updates in the future. This way, you will not have the above problem again!
---------------
You can achieve this by telling your system (Windows Automatic Updates, or your Fire Fox browser, if this is what you are using) not to update add-on without your permission.

Thank you. Now I know what to do when this happens. I will not have to do trial and error.
