Disable manual entries to an Account 15 Years, 4 Months ago
|

Hello Hasan,
I am just wondering whether I can disable Manual Journal entries for specfic Accounts
in the COA. If yes, how can I do it?
I do not want users using some specfic Accounts for Manual Journal entries.
Thanks,
Arun

Hello Hassan,
After I posed the question I realized that the answer is simple. I just have to create security rules based on Natural Account segment to prevent certain group of users having a particular responsibilty from paasing entries. Well, any other insights on this would be welcome.
Regards,
Arun

Hello Hasan,
I went through your security rule video to reinstate/reinforce my knowledge. It really helped me to rememeber the steps. However between the Video No 5 & 6 something is amiss. It seems to me that I could not actually see you enabling the Segment security rule. May be I am making a mistake? Can you please check on that?
Also, I always tend to forget some of these steps in between - in this case it was the security rules. How can I prevent that from happening? Is it just me or does it happen to everybody else? I am eager to know this. This ia a big problem for me. Should I need to focus more, practice more or is there any particular steps or series that I should follow so that I remember and recollect better?
Regards,
Arun

I am looking into the video and will get back you.
Here is my take on your issue 2:
Strength of a consultant is:
1) Knowing what is possible and what is not in terms of functionality
2) Remembering high level concepts (e.g. what are cross validation rules, security rules, difference between them etc etc).
I suggest you do not focus on remembering the steps. Documentations are always there for that purpose. You can always pull up the steps. Doing it once is ok. Remembering the concepts are more important than the steps.
In a complex project usually the person who gives a high level implementation solution do not remember all the steps on his finger tips. For example, he would know on his fingertips that elimination entries could be created using recurring journals, manual journals, ADI and elimination set. He would also know the differences among the four methods but he might still have to pull up documentations in order to actually do that on the screen. No one remember steps for every thing.

Yes you are right. A step was missing between video 5 and 6. I have added the missing video.
