Journal Sources and Journal Categories 15 Years, 4 Months ago
|
|
|
Hello Hasan,
Is there any easy way to minimize the list of Journal Categories or journal sources
so that the users are not confused by the choices - it can be by users or rather
by reponsibilities. One way would be to do form personalisation. Is there any other
easier way to do that?
Thanks,
Arun

What I know is that Oracle does not offer any seeded mechanism to let users hide unwanted categories from the list of values.
This is a cause of grief to most users.
Personalizations can be easily used to create a custom solutions as you have seen in the videos.

Apart from personalization, you can also prefix the unwanted categories with the last letter of the alphabet, Z. Since the items in the category field are in ascending order, prefixing the values you don't use with the letter Z, would see them at the very bottom of the list of values, and this would make the pick easier.
I hope this also helps!

Yes. This is the official workaround suggested by Oracle.

Hello Hasan,
Just to confirm - you are suggesting Form Personalisation as the way out and that this is the Oracle suggested workaround.
Thanks,
Arun

You are right, personalizations offer a "solution" to the issue. A workaround does not usually solve the problem completely, it just reduce the pain. All unwanted values appearing at the end of the list is not really a solution but makes a life little easier.

Hi Arun,
Hasan is telling you that the official workaround suggested by Oracle is to prefix the unwanted category names with the letter Z.
Although Personalizations offer a solution to the issue, it is not the official workaround Oracle has suggested.

Yes, I would prefer personalizations as they provide a complete solution in this matter.
