Sorry for the late reply.
May be linux.server is reachable but the services are not running at port 8000.
First thing you need to check is open a browser in Linux and type in http://linux.server:8000 or http://<local ip>:8000
You should be able to see Oracle's login page.
If not then your Apache server is down.
If you can see the login page from Linux, then the problem is within Windows. See if Enable XSS filter is disabled in your IE browser.

What happens when you enter http://linux.server:8000 from Linux browser? Do you get Server not found error?
If that is the case then most likely your Apache service is down.
I would restart the host computer.
Start the guest computer (virtual machine).
Login into Linux panel.
Start Oracle services normally.
Now watch the status of each service when it starts. It should say 0. Note down which of the services are not starting with 0. This is where the problem is.
Then you will need to look into the log file of the services that are not starting to find out what is causing this issue.

I followed all the steps you have mentioned. Please see attached documents. I am still unable to connect to linux server. I followed all the videos for Installation and it showed no errors.
Please advice me if needed how to delete everything step by step from my Win8 laptop(system Win8 1 TB harddrive, 16 GB RAM) and reinstall everything from beginning and this time I would like to create VM with 4096MB memory allocation. Please help, your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re:Connectivity issue linux.server 12 Years, 6 Months ago
Thank you for uploading the log of services startup. All services are starting nicely. It has to be a network issue. You have not answered my question: What do you see when you enter http://linux.server:8000 from linux browser? (Or may be I have missed your reply). If you can see the login page from Linux browser then that means the problem is in Windows connectivity to Linux, otherwise the problem could be on linux network configuration. If http://linux.server:8000 does not work from Linux, please also try http://127.0.0.1:8000 and let me know if you see the Oracle home page.
