Hello,
If you review the first 10-20 videos regarding AP you should have a VERY good understanding of what a Legal Entity and Operating Unit is all about.

In short, legal entity owns: taxation setup, operating unit stamping, and bank setups. Operating unit is a container than segregates data at subledgers like AP, AR etc.
