Hi Hasan,

I went through your example of inserting Journal lines into GL Interface table. But if there are plenty of data with multiple JE lines how do you insert then and balance the JE. Normally for the data I have seen a text file being used and for SQL there are standard loader programs which are used. Can you please provide some details and clarify.

Thanks,

Arun

You would insert a journal line into the gl interface table just like how you would insert a line into an existing journal through the Enter Journal screen.

Keep in mind, through, normally you do just insert one line, you create the whole journal together (by inserting all the lines).

If you are just inserting one line then it is your responsibility to make sure the debits and credit are equal to each other for the journal.
Otherwise you will see import errors.
Also the debits and credits must be equal to each other for each company (Balancing segment value), not only for the journal (unless you have intercompany rules configured.

Also you provide the line number. This will dicdate the position of the line in the overal journal.
The line number does not have any accounting significance as such. It more for us, where we want to see this line in the overall journal.

Once you insert the data into the table (either using sql*loader or directly), then the import program is launched that tries to import the journals.

Hope this helps.
