Hello,

Is it compulsory for a functional consultant to know Oracle SQL? In projects what do you need it for? What level of SQL one is needed to know if at all? Are there any typical scripts that you can kind of reuse every time it is needed?
Also, what is SQL Loader? When do you use it? Is it hard to learn for a functional guy?
Please pitch in with your opinion.

Apologies for late reply.
There are two answers to your question.
1) Strictly speaking, a functional consultant does not need SQL or PL/SQL knowledge. That is why technical consultants are there.
2) It is good to possess basic level of SQL knowledge so that you can create table based value sets and decode value sets created by others. There are other places where basic SQL knowledge would come handy for example when specifying SQL based default values for parameters etc. In most projects technical staff is there to do all these tasks as well.
My advice is to keep the focus in mind and target to become an expert on functional side. Once you have achieved that objective then you can look into SQL. http://sqlzerotopro.com
