I am unable set Operating Unit profile as in my system I do not see “MO: Operating Unit profile”. I do see MO: Default Operating Unit profile. See attached . What Should I do?

What system are you using? Is this your own installation?
Possible reasons that I could think of:
1) You are not entering correct query criteria for this
profile option
2) This profile option is hidden by someone in your system.
Lets see if someone else could think of possible reason
causing this issue...

Hasan - I am using HOE tutorial system (R12, General Ledeger). I am certain about query criteria. I tried various way to run the query but could not see MO: Operating Unit profile. Why the option is hidden or not generated. Did I change/missed some setting?

Hi Hasan,
I am having exactly the same problem. I am using a fresh install as per the tutorial. This is
the ERROR Message I received:
APP-FND-01436: List of values cannot find any values for you to choose.
Cause: The List of values execution failed to find any values.
Cause: The SQL statement specified to fdlfch() failed to return any values.
Are the free downloaded Oracle Applications we are using bugged, I am now wondering?
Please, help us to sort out this problem, so that we can progress with the
hands on tutorials. Thank you.

Hasan, it seems to me logically that we need to implement at least one
Operating Unit (obviously at subledger level)
before one can implement Mass Allocation.
In your tutorial Mass Allocation, setting profile option value for
MO: Operating Unit, I realized the value you
chose was “HM Consulting OU”. I have not yet set up any Operating Unit
at subledger level yet. Do you agree that
this is the cause of the problem RaviRatra and myself are having setting
up a value for MO: Operating Unit profile option?
Thank

Interesting observation.
Let me verify this from Oracle or let me test this on one on my test servers.
I will be surprised if Oracle R12 would require you to setup a dummy OU
before you could use MA/Recurring Journals.
But anything is possible in Oracle world.

Setup an Operating Unit (s) in subledger and provide this value
to "MO: Operating Unit" profile options, in the related Primary
Ledger.
You would succeed in implementing Mass Allocations in GL.

Yes Gavrobere is right, Mass Allocation will not work
without providing MO Operating Unit profile option value.

Hasan,
Assuming that a client decides to implement only Oracle GL, but no any
subledger modules (AP or AR).
Assuming also that the client wants to implement Mass Allocations.
Since Mass Allocation will not work without providing MO Operating Unit profile option value,
do we have to setup a dummy Operating Unit (OU) just to be able to implement
Mass Allocations/Recurring Journals.
If yes, how would this dummy OU be implemented? I am not asking
for how to create a functional OU, since I understand this very well and have successfully implemented them through your tutorials.
Thank you

Apparently yes you have to create one dummy OU.
I have sent an inquiry to Oracle to explain
why Mass Allocation is depending on Operating Unit profile...
May be this is a defect or some other factors like Reporting
Currencies are in play.
Conceptually you should be able to use GL module without
setting up operating units. OUs are needed for sub-ledgers.

Hi, I am having this problem and I am still at the stage of general ledger practices and have not seen any subjedger which I assume that subledger are the modules that interact with GL.
How do I set up a dummy operation unit in GL? I cannot continue with mass allocations otherwise.
Thanks.

Rusell,
You need to set up an Operating Unit at the Accounting Set up when you create the
Primary Ledger. There is really nothing different than setting up any other functional
operating unit other than the fact that this OU is not really required by the business
but is required for some features to function.
As per my understanding you need to have one operating unit logically - Operating units
are assigned to ledgers and a default legal context.
The MO: Operating Unit profile option only provides access to one operating unit. The
MO: Security Profile provides access to multiple operating units from a single
responsibility. Hope I have been able to clarify it a little bit.
Thanks,
Arun

Rightly said Arun.
You are required to create one OU even though you will
only be using GL (no subledgers), otherwise massallocation would not work.
Main purpose of OU is to segregate data at subledgers.
OU are theoretically only required if you are planning to use
subledgers. You can use most of the functionality of the GL
without creating OU.
Bottom line: Simply create one OU even though your business does
not need any OU.
